Fecal Testing

Pet Fecal Testing and Pet Parasite Prevention in Texas

You handle your dog’s poop daily when you do your “scoop the poop” duty, but do you really know what is in it? The truth is that you can’t see what is in it until you look under a microscope.

A fecal test requires just a small stool sample and detects microscopic parasites like harmful worms and bacteria that you can’t see with the naked eye. These parasites can even be transferred to you and your family! Ewww!

We recommend that your pet has a fecal test every 6-12 months. Active dogs that travel and visit dog parks should have a fecal test every 6 months. Any dog can ingest microscopic parasite eggs that grow into full adult worms by licking their feet when they come back into your home. If you think that your darling little Frou-Frou couldn’t possibly ever get parasites because she lives in an apartment, think again! Apartment buildings are home to a huge number of dogs that all visit one designated area at your apartment block. Residues of poop left behind are a perfect environment for parasites to thrive.

At Penny Paws, a fecal test is very simple and you don’t even have to bring in your dog! Just bring us a stool sample and we will send it out to our lab and have the results for you in just 1-2 days. We will even provide the container for the stool sample to you at no extra charge!

You guys were great! Friendly staff, very accommodating, informative and helpful. Everything was done quickly and efficiently. I will be returning and recommending to my friends with fur babies.

What Our Customers are Saying

“Dr. Nelson was so sweet and patient through all of my questions. The staff here are amazing and genuinely care about the animals. Dr. Nelson and the vet tech both got on the floor with my dog to make her feel more comfortable. It was half the price of our old vet and the care was WAY better. This will definitely be the only vet we visit from now on.”

– Emily

“I absolutely love Penny Paws at Basswood Crossing! I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and have been taking them all there for about 2 years now. We usually just go to the Saturday clinics for shots, but the entire staff still remembers all of my animals each time! They’re such a great group of people and truly love animals there. I’ve lived all over the US and have never found a vet’s office that is so loving.”
